Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On visiting the Lake District back in March with Sally and the dogs I noticed a poster in one the many outward bound shops we popped into (well you've got to haven't you, after all 'you can never have enough kit'!). It was advertising 'The Great North Swim'. Now I had heard of that, in fact it was on whilst we were up in the Lakes last year. So much so we made a special effort to stay clear of the hoards of people around Lake Windermere and the surrounding area whilst it was on. But something inside of me said 'you could do that, you used to enjoy swimming'. Used to being the word! I hadn't swam for some ten good (and indifferent) years. How hard could it be? A little heavy, a bit out of shape, but I could do it, couldn't I? We were already booked into to a cottage for the same week (our second visit of the year, greedy eh) so why not? I laid down the challenge, all be it to myself, to complete one mile in the open waters of Windemere!
A few visits to the local swiming pool and one training swim along Littlehampton sea front and I'm ready. All I have to do now is try to raise some much needed funds for my chosen Charity 'Macmillian Cancer Support'. So go on, dig deep and please help me towards my fund raising target!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to 'Macmillian' and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
