Grand Depart 2022 · 1 July 2022

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. At Prostate Cancer UK, we’re giving every man the power to navigate it. With over £100 million invested in research, treatment, and care, we’re building a future where prostate cancer no longer cuts men’s lives short. Together, we can help save men’s lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm restarting my efforts to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK, in 2020 my Dad had just diagnosed with Prostate Cancer so I wanted to raise awareness and funds. Thankfully like my uncle before him, he is now in remission and doing well.

Covid stopped my plans to take part in the Prostate Cancer 2020 Grand Depart in Nice, so I have waited until things have improved and the charity have thought it safe enough to plan an event. The Grand Depart for this year's Tour De France is in Denmark and this is where I'll hopefully be on July 1st to ride stage 2 the day before the professionals ride it.

The route will begin in the city of Korsør, 40km west of Copenhagen, which is in the middle of the national park Skjoldungernes Land. We will travel northwest along the beautiful fjords Inderbredning, Holbæk Fjord and Lammefjord, following the coastline in the northwestern part of Zealand.

After Veddinge Bakker, the route goes south along the coastline, and after 183km (roughly 114 miles), reaches the town of Korsør where our finish line will be, at the foot of the Great Belt Fixed Link bridge. The full Tour de France stage will travel a further 16km over the bridge and finish at Nyborg, however it's not open to cyclists so our ride will finish a little earlier in Korsør.
