Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

Some of you may know that earlier this year our Mum/my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 58.

Friends and family have already been incredibly generous in supporting our previous running efforts to raise money for Crohn's & Colitis and Breast Cancer - charities close to our hearts.  Last year due to Covid we were unable to enter the US to run the Chicago Marathon.  Our places were rolled forward to this year and so to honour the support that we received last year we are off to Chicago for Charlotte to run the 5km Race on Saturday 8th October 2022 with Hennie, Ed and Andrew running the Chicago Marathon on the Sunday.

We hope that you don't mind if once again we ask for your support, this time to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.  We are therefore heading back to the UK to fly out to South Africa for Charlotte to run in the 10km race in Cape Town on the following Saturday with Hennie, Ed and Andrew running the Cape Town Marathon on the Sunday.

Alzheimer's Research UK is the leading dementia research charity, dedicated to causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure for this life changing disease.  There are around 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia.  When someone like Charlotte develops dementia before the age of 65, this is known as ‘young-onset dementia’.  Over 42,000 people in the UK are living with young-onset dementia.

We are convinced that it is only a matter of time before Science uncovers ways to halt and perhaps even reverse this dreadful disease, if not in time for Charlotte then hopefully for others in the future.

Many thanks.

Best wishes

Andrew, Hennie and Ed
