Story
I am very proud to be included in a group of cyclists who will, in the 5 days between the 18th & 22nd February, be riding the 800km from Nice to Paris as part of the Dallaglio Foundation's Cycle Slam which aims to raise £1m+ for Sport Relief and the Foundations Charities which include Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia Research and Help for Heroes.
We will be covering an average of 160km per day (that's 100 miles), much further on some days and a little less when we are forced to overcome some of the natural obstacles en route such as the Alpes! All of this taking place in the middle of winter.
This is in fact only Stage 2 of what is a 6 stage epic undertaking by Lawrence, who will himself be riding the full 2,800km during the course of the Six Nations tournament and visting all the stadia to raise support for his Foundation in its inaugural year. We will arrive at the Stade de France on Monday 22nd February after a final 170km leg.
As many of you will be aware I have undertaken previous cycling challenges to raise funds for the wine trade's own charity, however, this is a very different venture both in terms of the nature of the physical challenge and in the profile of the Charities who will benefit if you are able to support me, as I very much hope you will be.
Very many thanks for your support.
Andrew
