Capital Credit Union is heading for new heights to help our local community!
Andy Forrest has selflessly volunteered to ‘throw himself’ out of a plane at 10,000ft in an effort to raise money for a wonderful local charity: ELCAP.
He’s lived in East Lothian for 38 years 17 of this he has been a local councillor. He said “I have seen first-hand the amazing work this charity does to support the community of East Lothian.“
Capital Credit Union have been celebrating our 30 years with 30 Acts of Kindness. Andy will be skydiving for our final act and we’re looking to raise a significant amount for ELCAP.
ELCAP is a Scottish charity which changes lives for the better in 30 towns and villages across East Lothian and Midlothian. Each week, ELCAP provides more than 10,000 hours of care and support to over 200 individuals aged from four to 92 years old.
The charity’s mission is to become the recognised gold standard in social care by empowering the individuals they support, their staff and their community to grow and succeed.
The charity provides care and support for individuals with a learning disability, all of whom have some level of difficulty with communication. With expert input from Speech and Language Therapists, Our Voice, Our Choice ensures the individuals ELCAP supports have access to approaches and tools which enable them to communicate more effectively with others.
This compliments Capital’s ethos of People Helping People. We want everyone in our community to have access, feel included, and given the chance to communicate and express themselves.
Reflecting on the difference the project makes, Paul White, CEO of ELCAP, said:
“Many of us take communication for granted. But imagine what life would be like if we struggled to understand our family and friends or if we struggled to express the things that matters to us.
Every penny Capital helps us raise will be used to give voice to the individuals we support and ensure they have greater choice and control in their lives.
We are thrilled that our colleagues at Capital want to lend their support to our organisation. Like all charities, fundraising is very important for ELCAP, particularly as we rise to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our vision is that everyone, no matter what their individual support needs, is able to live to their full potential and be an active and valued member of our community.
Capital Credit Union’s support will help us make more of a difference to more people.”
Funds raised by Capital Credit Union will be used to support ELCAP’s innovative project, Our Voice, Our Choice.
Please donate whatever you can and feel free to share this page!
Thanks in advance,
