Story
On 26th January 2011 I will commence a seven day climb to the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The challenge will be intense: Uhuru Peak stands at 5986 metres / 19,340 feet; during the day there will be burning sun, while at night temperatures will fall below freezing; the route will take me through a variety of terrain; and at the peak the oxygen levels are some 50% of those found at sea level.
Compensation will be three-fold. Yes, it will be satisfying to tackle such an expedition. Yes, I hope to enjoy some spectacular views from Africa's roof-top. However, the principal reward will be participation in the success of a major fund-raising effort. The team of which I am a part is raising money to further work that benefits profoundly deaf children needing cochlear implantation, and to fund the work of two schools in Tanzania that support AIDS orphan projects; I hope you will agree, a combination of needs that fully merit financial support. So please make a donation via the JustGiving page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I know that I will find this expedition a great challenge. I should be extremely grateful if you would make a donation while I continue with my training.
Thanks in anticipation!
