Story
Thank you to every one who sponsored myself, Corrine, Jo and Sharon. We completed the Mitchemp Trust 10 Peak Brecon Beacon Challenge on the 17th March 2012.
We set off in the dark at 6.09am and hiked up 10 of the biggest peaks in South Wales. We completed the 21.25 miles in 12 1/2 hours.
It was cold, there was fog, wind, rain, sleet and even a little bit of sun.
It was was a hard slog but we did it,
Corrine soldiered on with a knee injury & blisters, Sharon coped extremely well with her fear of heights and Jo kept us all going.
Corrine, Jo and Sharon finished before me, as I had an injury on the very last peak and had to be escorted down (on my own two feet) by the marshalls. But I finished about 1/2 - 3/4 hour after them and how pleased I was to see they'd waited at the finish line for me so that we could cross it together (what fantastic team mates).
We have raised approx £1,850, and the whole event raised around £19k for The Mitchemp Trust Charity who work with vulnerable young people. Those that may be experiencing difficulties or bullying at school, have difficulties at home and are suffering the effects of poverty & rural isolation.
The Youth Adventure Programme is an outdoor youth development course that provides disadvantaged young people between 11 and 14 years old a chance to try new things and challenge themselves.
The programme enables them to experience success, learn to go beyond their own expectations and grow in confidence. Through a combination of residential camps and day activities young people learn about team work, communication, social skills and taking responsibility.
These are the essential building blocks to help young people grow into individuals who are able to make a positive contribution to society.
This is a really worthwhile charity, and they would really appreciate your help.
So please dig deep and donate now.
