Yipee! VLM 2014 done in 4:49:19!I cannot tell you how amazing the marathon is. The atmosphere, the support and the sights are phenomenal. I would do it all again if I could. One of my tricks en route was to read the shirts others were wearing and look at their pictures of loved ones, etc. It was all very humbling & kept me going and made me realise the race really isn't about the runners but about those we have lost and those that are special to us.
Fundraising doesn't end here so please feel free to give if you haven't already.love & thanks xxx
Well its official now that on Sunday April 13th 2014 I will be running the London Marathon for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
As many of you known my Brother James had duchennes muscular dystrophy and sadly died in January 2000 at the age of 15. More recently two of my friends have been given the devastating news that their children also have DMD. Like my family there was no genetic history so it has been a huge shock.
Muscular dystrophy and related conditions cause muscles to waste and weaken. More than 70,000 people in the UK are affected. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the leading UK charity focussing on all muscle wasting disease and neuromuscular illnesses. Duchennes muscular dystrophy progresses rapidly and most affected do not live beyond their teens.
I have been eagerly training since January and recently reached my 16 mile target. There's still a long way to go but I'm feeling optimistic and confident that I am ACTUALLY going to do it. I'm excited about the day but also about supporting the search for a cure or an effective treatment that slows the progression. Muscular Dystrophy is a devastating diagnosis for which there is no cure. So PLEASE sponsor me if you can. Your support will allow the charity to continue it's vital work providing free care and support, funding research, campaigning to bring about change and giving grants towards equiment. Stay Happy. Love & Thanks xx

Training Update: 16 mile run achieved today in 3 hours 22 minutes..high points included weather sunshine & scenery and reached that sweet spot where breathing was settled and steady. Low points: painful knees and ankles & not being able to take my loyal Mr O with me as distances are too punishing for him at this level. Funniest moment, seeing The Voice Chicken train man doing a publicity shoot with a panto horse on Bournemouth beach.
Delightemoney's be getting closer to my fundraising target.
Pasty supper invitations are out there so fingers crossed for a good response. Happy weekend All x
Hi everyone
St Piran's fundraiser is going to be on Saturday 15 March this year-a week later than planned and causing some problems because it clashes with St Patricks but hey we can celebrate both.. Pirate theme, disco, pasty and a welcome drink £10 per person, all monies raised will go to the charity.... So you can feel good about that pasty and drink(s).
Big run tomorrow... Will keep you posted.
Hi All....
Well the word is finally out there so I guess that means I'm committed to the marathon now. Having been offered the place at the end of last year I have deliberated for several weeks, struggled with confidence..."can I do it"... guilt about the amount of time training would take and it's impact on family life but mostly apprehension about raising the pledge of £1,600. (Especially as, thanks to you all last year we donated more than £1,000 to the charity).
As many of you know my Brother James had DMD and sadly died in January 2000 at the age of 15. More recently I have learnt that two of my friends have children with DMD.

Cheers x When I think of these factors it makes me appreciate... I can do it! AND after a very generous donation from atticconversionltd.co.uk my mind was made up. Since January I have been eagerly training. I am NOT finding it easy but I achieved my 14 mile target on 30th January so feel (slightly) more optimistic about the reality of doing 26 miles in only 10 weeks time! I have been plagued with injuries, emotional at times and and seem to have little time for anything other than work, endurance and strength training so I apologise now to my lovely family and friends if you feel just a little neglected. I'm now feeling excited and privileged to have this opportunity and my excitement is as much about contributing to the search for a cure for all muscle wasting diseases as the race itself. I am hoping we can exceed the pledge so PLEASE donate to this very worthy cause, however big or small. Your support will allow the charity to continue it's vital work providing free care and support, funding research, campaigning to bring about change and giving grants towards equiment. Stay Happy. Cheers x
Ps, Going to try and squeeze in a St Pirans night in March so details to follow... x

Thanks all for your donations. We have made a great start with our fundraising efforts having made over £36 on the 'guess the number of sweets' jar and have sold £10 worth of raffle tickets-some great prizes for the raffle so see me for your ticket :D
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most of you know my personal story and will understand my drive to contribute to the charity in their search for an effective treatment for MD. Personally I wish a cure could have been found sooner but am hopeful that in future this diagnosis will be less devastating for children and families. There is always hope....
Professor Francesco Muntoni, researcher at the Imperial College and Hammersmith Hospital:
Even five years ago, it would have been impossible to think about treatments. Now, we're not only thinking about it but I'm hopeful that we may be able to produce something in the next ten years
So please dig deep and donate now.
