Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Bowel Cancer UK is a charity close to my heart as currently my brother-in-law is fighting this horrible disease.
My employer the Office of National Statistics has kindly agreed to host Chris Daniel, an ex-colleague of mine, in his bid to cycle around the world virtually to raise money for cancer charities including Bowel Cancer UK. I will be cycling with him for 25 miles, which is no mean feat for an unfit woman in her 50s, but compared to what my brother-in-law is dealing with it's can't be that bad.
I have persuaded 14 other wonderful people to join me and cycle 25 miles each alongside Chris keeping him company in this mammoth task, hopefully motivating him along the way.
Team ONS supporting VirtualWorldRideForRity cyclists are:-
Keri Jones, Katie Roberts, Rich Williams, Sian Kimber, Jason Ryan, Paul Cudmore, Alex Burnett, Lewis Edwards, Paul Brookes, Elaine Mahon, Rachel Thomas, Sally Kerrell, Matthew Plews, Andrea Owen and last but not least Chris Mitchell.
Please see a message from Chris Daniel below.
The TACX VirtualWorldRideForRity
My name is Chris Daniel and my wonderful wife Rita (Rity) bravely fought Bowel Cancer for over 4 years. Rita inspired me and others through her commitment to raise funds for cancer charities.
Sadly she is no longer by my side however, I know that she would want me to continue to do all we can to stop cancer once and for all.
To that end starting on 1st December 2017 I will be attempting to cycle 18,000 miles virtually around the world at various venues across South Wales. This has not been done previously so this will be a first. The Office for National Statistics has kindly agreed to host me during this time from Tues 30th January to Friday 2nd February 2018.
I have secured some sponsorship and equipment which will simulate the actual dynamics of my route around the world. I am now inviting others to join me in this and cycle with me the only condition is that you must raise at least £50 for a cancer charity.
Andrea Owen is coordinating my visit to ONS and is organising some colleagues who will ride alongside me and join me in this journey to cycle around the world!
Kind regards
Chris
