Fundraising for ONESIGHT- A Luxottica Group Foundation ONLUS
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
As you know I have been involved with the OneSight Foundation for more than 1 year now and having volunteered in two clinics (Paraguay in 08 and Brasil in 09), I witnessed and experienced the meaning of Giving the Gift of Sight to people who do not have access to eye-care or cannot afford a pair of glasses. One Sight Foundation organises around 20 international clinics per year in all 5 continents where volunteers and doctors, from all over the world, hand deliver freeeye-care and recycled eye-wear to those in need. On the 23rd of January, I am flying to Thailand together with 31 volunteers including doctors to hand-deliver much needed free eye-care and recycled eye-wear to approximately 15,000 people. The clinic will be located in Nakhonratchasima and we will be there for approximately 10 days. It is difficult to imagine what a difference a single pair of glasses can make in the life of a person and also to imagine how many people are out there today in this world who cannot afford eye-wear and who are having a very poor quality of life.
I met children in Brasil that were unable to attend school because they couldn't even read and I also met adults in Paraguay who had to stop working because they couldn't see. It is very sad.
However, we can make a huge difference If we continue to help. There are more than 250 million people around the world who still need our help.
