Derek, my father in law, was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer at the start of lockdown.  At the end of August, Derek passed away at home.

The nurses from Sue Ryder gave such support to Derek and Julia during the 18 month Derek was ill. They helped provide much needed equipment in the home, valuable advice and caring words of support.  Both Julia and Derek were amazed by what they were able to do and how kind all the Sue Ryder team were.

It is for this reason that I am running my 5th London Marathon for Sue Ryder's Duchess of Kent Hospice in Reading.

Derek was a loving husband, an incredible father and father in law and a caring grandfather.  He will be missed by many.
