We are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1089464), Scotland (SC041666), the Isle of Man (1103) and Jersey (247).

Story

As many of you know, last year our daughter Flora was diagnosed with ALL, a form of Leukaemia.

Since then, in our visits to Great Ormond Street, we've met many children whose lives are blighted by cancer. It steals much of what we hold dear about childhood. In every case they face their situation with truly humbling bravery and resilience.

The survival rates for ALL have climbed to a level of c.80%. However this is by no means the case for all children's cancers. Each year, around 1,600 children are diagnosed with cancer in the UK alone and the disease claims 250 lives. So, I'm choosing to raise money for all children's cancers through Cancer Research UK.

Many of you have so kindly asked how you can help Flora - finally an answer! In just over two weeks time, I'm taking part in the Shine Night Marathon. Although not even nearly a Marathon de Sable or Ironman challenge, many of you would claim I'd struggle for 26 miles on a bus, so please donate generously. Every pound you donate will help fund life-saving work.
