Story
We would really like to raise money to aid further research into kidney disease treatment. But the most important thing that can make a difference to people with kidney failure today is to join the organ donation register and discuss this decision with your family and friends.
Kidney Research UK is the leading UK charity funding research into the causes, treatment and prevention of kidney disease.
- 60,000 people die prematurely each year because of chronic kidney disease
- 64,000 people are being treated for end-stage renal failure
- A kidney transplant only lasts on average between 10-15 years before you need a new one
- 5,200 people are waiting for a kidney, yet less than 3,300 transplants are carried out each year.

Also, there is a super interesting BBC documentary on transplanting you can watch here (for anyone with nothing better to do): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjLK8Q_t1Wk
We'd be really grateful for anything you can give, but more importantly for talking about organ donation and joining the register.
