Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year, Samson & I are planning to walk the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path (he doesn't know yet...) to raise money for the Refugee Council.
I am so fortunate to live in this incredible part of the world, and since my aged bones no longer allow me to run (without a significant amount of discomfort), it occurred to me that maybe walking the coastal path was the ideal way to challenge myself physically, raise money, and get to know my beloved Cornwall (and Devon of course!) a little bit better.
The Refugee Council is a leading charity working with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Founded in 1951, following the creation of the UN Refugee Convention, they exist to support and empower people who have made the heart breaking decision to flee conflict, violence and persecution in order to rebuild their lives here in the UK.
They work with over 13,000 women, men and children each year who are desperately seeking safety. From the moment refugees arrive in the UK – they are here:
They provide crisis advice, mental health counselling and practical support to help people settle and integrate into their new community
They are specialists in working with refugee children who arrive in the UK alone
They work with refugees and our partners to fight for improvements to the asylum protection system
They inspire change in attitudes towards refugees and people seeking asylum – speaking out for compassion fairness and kindness.
There is so much injustice. So much unimaginable fear, suffering, pain & hopelessness. Please donate if you can.
