Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
If you know me you know that running is definitely not one of my strong points. But you also probably know I get bored easily and I fancied a challenge and the marathon is definitely that! I want to raise money for a cause close to my heart, so what better thing to do then run 26 miles when I struggle to make it to the bus stop in the morning.
Part of the reason I was so keen to do this was because I know running the London Marathon is not only exciting but it is also a great way to raise money and awareness. I am running for Worldwide Cancer Research (formerly ICAR). As the name implies they run research projects all over the world to try and come up with better cancer treatments, and a better understanding of cancer, so that less and less people have to lose their battle if they are unfortunately diagnosed with cancer.
This charity has a very special place in my heart. I lost my Nan to cancer many years ago at the age of just 67, but more recently my Dad was diagnosed with cancer last year. However with the amazing treatment he received, 6 months after his diagnosis he received the all clear and officially went in to remission! Of course, this was the best news imaginable and I hope by raising money for Worldwide Cancer Research I can play a part (even if it is just a small part) in helping more people beat their battle with cancer.
So, I am running this in memory of my Nan and in celebration of my amazingly strong Dad. Whether I run, walk, or crawl across the finish line I will do it for them.
I am hugely grateful to anyone who sponsors me, and just remember to include Gift Aid in your donation as the charity will receive more this way.
