Story
A team of five has been voted in by Ampleforth students and staff to abseil down the Abbey Church and raise funds for FACE-FAW in memory of Fr Francis Dobson OSB.
Fr Francis dedicated more than 25 years to co-ordinating FACE-FAW activities, which included a long-standing connection with the Catholic Diocese of Zanzibar. Sponsorship received for Ampleforth's Abbey Abseil will be allocated towards a new male hospital ward in Kitope, Zanzibar in memory of Fr Francis.
We believe Fr Francis would be delighted that the charity abseil will form part of this year's Exhibition weekend. The spectacle will see the following participants traverse down the Abbey walls:
Fr Ambrose, OSB
Deirdre Rowe, Associate Head
Hannah Pomroy, Director of Studies
Gabrielle Foster, HSM St Margaret's
Dan Davison, Asst Head of English and FACE-FAW organiser
