Story

Following the success of our international (well, we crossed the Irish Sea) bike ride last year, we decided to do something a little different to get to the Amnesty AGM in Manchester this April. Bored by the idea of simply cycling, but nostalgic for the padded shorts, we've decided to cycle for a day, then add in a canoe ride and a walk for variety and fun. Less fun for Michael who has to canoe with two novices!

So, we'll cycle to Birmingham, Canoe for two days to the Manchester suburbs, then the final day will be spent walking with the appropriate Amnesty International placards raising awareness for the good causes it serves.

Alongside the normal amazing work Amnesty does for Human Rights accross the globe, in the past year the organisation has been instrumental in reporting on, and campaigning for the rights of people during the Arabic Spring. This year the AGM will focus on the Campaign for an Arms Trade Treaty. Every year millions suffer because of the poorly regulated arms trade, we want to see a robust, bulletproof Treaty from the UN

Please donate to our cause so you can contribute to Amnesty's invaluable work. Plus, we are getting up at 6am to go Canoe training in the cold; it would make it less painful if we knew we were making a difference!
