Story
We’re a group of everyday residents from the Reading area working for justice, fairness and human rights. Every year, we hold events across Reading raising funds for Amnesty International’s work on human rights across the world. Our normal events include a street collection in Caversham, concerts, a quiz or a barn dance and through them we raise over £1250 for Amnesty International each year. COVID-19 has put a stop to all those fund raisers.
Amnesty Reading campaigns for human rights in places such as Afghanistan, Cuba, Myanmar/Burma, Pakistan , Syria, Sri Lanka and the UAE. Prisoners we have campaigned for include a Burmese student, an Egyptian journalist and a UAE human rights activist . We also work for human rights in the UK, such as the families together campaign for fairer treatment of child refugees.
Please donate to support these campaigns and others like them.
Donations go direct to Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust (https://www.amnesty.org.uk/amnesty-international-uk-charitable-trust ) and are eligible for Gift Aid.
