Amelie was born on the 30th December 2020. Things took an unexpected turn and she was taken to NICU at our local hospital, where their actions saved her life from what we later find out to be pneumonia and sepsis after she was unable to breath on her own ended up on life support. They managed to buy her enough time to transfer her to The Evelina NICU at St Thomas on NYE. Things were touch and go for so long but the specialist care by the consultants, doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and all that worked there not only saved her life but gave her the best opportunity for a full recovery, something we were told may not happen as at one point she was given a minimal chance of survival. Not only is Amelie our little miracle, but so are all the professionals working there, we owe them everything and nothing will ever repay what they did for our daughter.  The knowledge, skills, empathy and expertise by all that work there left us in awe and we will always be so grateful. What would we do without these heroes and the amazing NHS!

In light of this, Amelie is turning one and we will be celebrating this massive milestone for her with family members and close friends but instead of presents, we would like people who want to, to donate to this incredible hospital.  If you are reading this on a social platform and doesn’t know much about what happened but want to donate that would be amazing too so we can help in any way those babies and children still fighting and the continued aftercare they give, including to our little one.  

Nobody ever knows when we might need help and this charity and hospital will always stay with us and Amelie’s loved ones.  We will continue to support it at every opportunity 💖
