Story

Amelie is a 14 year old Superhero! She has fought all of her life against all odds to be able to do as much as she can for herself. Despite epilepsy, global developmental delay, bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyriain in her brain and a genetic condition, Amelie has thrived. She is able to hold her head up and eat/drink, grab and pull herself up from lie to sit, grab to lean forward, shake her head ‘No’, kick her legs in happiness and wave her arms to dance to name a few.

When Amelie was younger she was learning sit to stand and then stepping with the help of 2 – 3 people. Amelie took a great amount of pride in doing this. As Amelie got bigger this became unsafe for her to do.

Amelie trialled the ‘Innowalk’ at home and liked it. A Charity and others including us raised funds for the Innowalk which Amelie uses at school daily and also during the holidays. Most days she does equivalent to a marathon for the disabilities she has. Amelie is starting more fundraising by continuing to do this, the Superhero she is. It has made her very strong, fit and healthy and as her Mum this piece of equipment helped build our healthy future.

Ams would also like to be sponsored for all the physically challenging work she does to keep healthy. The hydropool once a week with physio exercises, rebound theraphy a few times a week, 2nd Skin, leg gaitors and arm gaitors mainly daily at school and as homework in the holidays and her own spectacular sit ups daily! She does this all with great enthusiasm and it is a privilege to be her Mum!

We are raising money to cover the cost of the service and yearly warranties and repairs on this piece of equipment.

We are also raising money to cover the lift yearly warranty that she needs to access her room and bathroom.

Ams physical and sensory needs are met daily by a hydrobath. Any repairs, renewals or servicing of this we will use the raised money on aswell the repairs of her walk in shower which we cover now. Ams hydrobath has helped her sensory needs, sleeping and muscles. It's one of her favourite things to do.

Ams has 2 private hoists to meet her needs throughout the house which we will also use money raised on servicing and repairs. The County put one hoist in however the need for ceiling track hoists in bathroom and lounge are essential to access the hydrobath and her Innowalk.

Ams will need a new car soon. The deposit is not included in the DLA and so we will be raising money for that also.

Ams needs extra equipment to go on holiday with so 2 cars are needed. We will raise money to cover this cost also, e.g a taxi service to help out or the deposit for a larger vehicle for her.

Ams has vestibular sensory needs she likes activities that feed her sensory needs. We will fundraise to keep providing this for Ams.

Thank you everyone for your continued support!
