On the 8thAugust this year myself and my husband Lee will be attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the world’s largest freestanding mountain and the highest point in Africa. We will be raising money for a charity close to our hearts, Safaplace.

Safaplace is a fantastic charity that was set up by my auntie Rose and Sarah Finke after the tragic loss of my little cousin Harry Lisle and another student from the same year, Rachel (Sarah’s daughter). Harry was a popular and amazing young man and tragically, just past his 16thbirthday he took his own life. It was a complete shock to us all and life will never be the same again for our family and his friends without him. One thing that is for sure is that in honour of him and Rachel many lives have been positively affected through the fantastic work of the charity. My auntie is my absolute hero, she has created and dedicated her time to this charity alongside work to help spread the word of mental health and try to prevent further cases of suicide in the future. The charity raises awareness and helps to promote and improve mental wellbeing in their community which in turn spreads the word further afield.

Hopefully  by building awareness of mental health and supporting charity’s that deal with mental health it means that we can prevent other families from having to go through the pain that our family had to deal with at the loss of Harry.

Harrys death brought great grief and deep sorrow to his Mum and Dad, Rose and Graeme, his Sister Mollie and to his whole family and many friends.  Mental health affects every single one of us so let’s raise money together! Please donate to this wonderful charity so people suffering with mental health issues have a place they can go to, to seek the help they need.

To Read more on Harrys story, please read the BBC article provided in the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-45303099

Let’s stamp on the stigma of mental health. Please help us raise money so we can help this charity to continue to carry out the great work they are doing.

We will be trying to film and vlog our journey and fingers crossed will both make it to the top.

Wish us luck!
