Story
Greetings good peoples!
I have decided to take up the challenge of raising funds for the
One Cause Charity by running the London Marathon this year because it allows me to test myself in the big one and contribute to this wonderful organisation at the same time.
Having already participated in and completed 4 half marathons in
Kenya and Tanzania, running a marathon was the logical next step for me. And I chose London mainly because I wanted to help raise funds for my friends’ charity.
One Cause was started by two of my childhood friends along with
a few others just over 10 years ago. Over the 10 years, I have seen them work with dedication, putting in huge amounts of effort in running the charity, raising funds through assorted fundraising events (a lot of marathons have been run!) all to provide life changing skills and knowledge to disadvantaged people. They have grown in capacity and now support projects in two schools in two different countries - India and Uganda.
I feel very strongly about their holistic approach in tackling the challenge of providing quality education in India and Uganda because of the many unique social, cultural, economic challenges a lot of the population face when it comes to receiving a quality education. In so many areas it’s not just about getting a place for a student in school, but also ensuring that they get a decent meal, money for uniforms, money for learning materials etc. For example 82 pounds in one of their Uganda projects currently pays for a student’s:- Tuition subsidy, one nutritional meal a day, medical allowance, uniform, basic stationery, school ID, contribution towards teacher's salaries
More information about the work they do and success stories from
the last 10 years can be found on their website http://www.onecauseuk.org
I have set myself a target of raising 2000 pounds for this great cause and hereby humbly request you to assist me in reaching my target by
donating towards this cause.
