I got back into the saddle after having my daughter Savannah, now 5 - and, a mere 20 years since I'd last ridden, started dreaming of becoming an eventer! But eventing is really, really scary - those fences are big, solid, and if you fall on them, they hurt (I imagine. It hasn't happened - yet.) My riding has come on a fair bit in the last three years, but I still haven't attempted a One Day Event  - which is why I've signed up to do the Wobbleberry Challenge. The goal is to complete a BE80 level One Day Event by next Autumn. (For the unhorsey amongst you - this means competing in the same day in dressage, showjumping and cross-country, jumping fences of 80cms. Mum, if you're reading this, it's not dangerous - honest! Ignore the bit I said earlier about the scary fences!) 

The money raised is going to a fantastic charity which raises funds for bone cancer research. There are a bunch of us across the country taking part in the Wobbleberry Challenge, which was set up in memory of a young eventer called Hannah who sadly passed away in 2016. We're all slightly - I SAID SLIGHTLY - older riders who don't quite have the nerves of steel of our younger contemporaries! But it wouldn't be a challenge if it was easy.

I'll be riding my 9-year old Dutch Warmblood, Angel Z. I've only just acquired her, and at the moment, she's really unfit - so am I - and we haven't been cross-country yet, so we've got loads to work on before the eventing season starts next Spring. I may also need to acquire a hip flask to help with the nerves!
