Story
I am forever grateful to everyone who has given a donation to Community Action Ghana on my birthday over the years. Somehow another year has passed and if you are able, I'd love you to help me celebrate by making a donation today.
I’ve heard stories about Ghana for as long as I can remember as that’s where my Mum and Dad met in 1967! I was lucky enough to return with them a few years ago to see where they taught and lived, and hear more about their time there.
Since then, we set up Community Action Ghana and work with communities in the Volta Region of Ghana, providing toilets, water systems and libraries.
We visited in February and were delighted to see the toilets, libraries and water systems, we helped to build, were in full use.
While we were there we also met with the community of Mafi Abude. They were so welcoming and in desperate need of toilets as there are none in their village and people are forced to go outside, spreading germs and disease. We have raised enough so far for the foundations and bricks but have a long way to go until the rest of the costs are raised.
We are also fundraising for a clean water system in Abunyanya - currently water is collected from a muddy river, which not only leads to illnesses, it is also really time consuming - taking people away from their farms and work and children away from school and their studies.
For more information about these projects, and the impact they have on the communities we work with, check out our blog, there's lots of updates from Ghana on there: www.communityactionghana.org/blog
As ever, thank you so much xx
