Story

On June 20th I'll be doing the 2 Capitals cycle in aid of TACC

http://twocapitals.org/

TACC is a registered Scottish charity (reg. SC038330) run by Scotland supporters.

Our aim is to help disadvantaged children in Scotland and in countries that we visit whilst supporting Scotland’s national football team.

Since 2006 we have donated nearly £40,000 to disabled, blind and street children in Ukraine, Georgia and Macedonia, and £60,000 has been raised during the recent qualifiying campaign to be donated in South Africa during the 2010 World Cup Finals.

Our first project helping Scottish children took place in March 2008 when we took 12 children supported by Barnardos to their first Scotland match . Since then we have taken disadvantaged children from around Scotland to every Scotland home match. We also have a partnership with Aberlour Child Care Trust - taking their children to Scotland matches and organising the Christmas Present Appeal for them.

TACC also donate 50% of every penny raised to worthwhile projects in Scotland. Footea is one of those projects. Each Friday evening at Spartans Community Football Academy in North Edinburgh, local children are invited to play football, enjoy a hot, nutritous meal, and spend time with their friends playing pool, WII etc. The children live in one of Scotland most deprived areas and are referred to us by local agencies that work with disadvantaged children.

The concept was developed by Spartans and TACC. Spartans manage the programme and provide the facilities and staff, while TACC have provided a grant to fund the programme throughout 2010.

It's a project that we hope to introduce to other deprived areas of Scotland later in 2010.

What is it?A programme run in conjunction with Scottish football clubs to enhance the health and well-being of children in areas of multiple deprivation.

Although the experience will be slightly different at each club the basis will remain the same, offering local children:

- A game of football on a weekend evening.

- A hot, healthy and nutritious meal in the Clubroom

- Time to spend with their friends and youth workers

The aim PLEASE DIG DEEPIn the areas of Scotland where it is most needed, the TACC Footea Club will promote:

Healthy eating, nutritional education and a access to first class football coaching / facilities

Ensuring that the children have at least one hot, healthy meal over the weekend

The opportunity to be valued, encourages and build positive relationships.

PLEASE DIG DEEP!! IT'S A WORTHWHILE CAUSE
