Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why am I doing this?

When news of Covid-19 initially broke on the news and the effect it has on those that suffer with respiratory issues, I was really scared.  I have been asthmatic since being a child and coughs and colds have always been one of my triggers.  My husband, Joe suggested that all we could do was get me as fit as possible so that if I did catch Covid I was as strong as possible.

I started with the Couch to 5k, running on the treadmill at the gym and then moving to The Cuckoo Trail when we went into lockdown.  Once I achieved the 5k I moved on to the 5K to 10k.  Whilst I was training for the 10k my husband was training to run the London virtual marathon.  On his race day I was so chuffed with myself that I was able to run some of the course with him & our son James to support him.  He then got the marathon bug and signed up for Brighton marathon with a friend of ours.  I didn't feel ready to make the marathon jump but I carried on training with them and ducking out half way through their long runs.  Once I got to half marathon I agreed to sign up to run a marathon with Joe in celebration of our 25th wedding anniversary.

Training has been going well and Joe has been extremely patient with me when I have a wobble or throw a wobbly mid run.  When our son Alex returned from uni. he joined us on our training which was pretty special.

4 weeks to go as I write this and its getting real but I'm excited and proud to be raising money for The Jim Jackson Foundation
