Just a quick update........I DID IT! It was a marvelous sunny day, the crowds were incredible and I ran it with my daughter Elaine and my daughter-in-law (David's wife) Alison. David and Holly were in the crowd near the finish line to cheer me home...a very special and emotional day.

As many of you know, I have been running the Great North Run for several years now but this year I have decided to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

My son, David, has been raising money for them for many years but earlier this year, he had a major accident at his work. His leg was broken in 3 places and for the first time he, himself needed the urgent medical expertise of the air ambulance crew.

They were attending to him, within minutes of his accident and had him quickly flown to James Cook hospital. They do a magnificent job and always need charity donations to keep the air ambulance in service.
