OK, so we’re giving up the kids for 10 days to do something truly “worthwhile”, we’re climbing a mountain!
In September last year, Al was lucky enough to get involved with a group called Fields of Life, which resulted in him going to Uganda to see what all the fuss was about. What I didn’t expect was for him to come back determined to build a school! And knowing him, that’ll be just the start.
As most of you will know, we are Kent’s version of the “Brady bunch” (that ages me) and for him seeing children that have nothing, (even basics like fresh water) really affected him.
So somehow, now I am involved too. Can I take my hair dryer and my lip gloss? Apparently not. But I feel it’s time to give back!
Al saw first hand the difference your donations can make. Kids who have nothing can suddenly have hope. With the others on this trip, we can raise enough to build a school. I need your help! Think of me camping on the side of a mountain, next to spiders, snakes and gorillas. 10 days of endurance for me, will mean a school for a bunch of children. Not too difficult a choice, is it?
Please sponsor me. These kids really need our help!

The ParentaTrust is a charity set-up to Help those who care for children. The trust has teamed up with Feilds of Life who build schools, provide education, and drinking water to communities across Eastern Africa. What better way for the Trust to begin its fund raising campaign, than by joining a team who are trying to raise the money to build a school, by trekking through the Ugandan Jungle to the top of their tallest Mountain.
But, that will be the easy bit. On the way, we will stop at schools, and orphanages where Fields of Life are already making an impact.
I saw this first hand when I went to Uganda in September 2012. I went with a team of strong-minded business leaders, all of whom were visibly moved by what they saw in the slums of Kampala or the remoteness of Northern Uganda. To see kids the same age as ours, in abject poverty, in nothing less than heart breaking.
Let’s put this in perspective. It costs £ 70,000 to send a team of builders to Uganda to build a school, inclusive of the land, the legals and materials. As part of the team going out in June for this trek, we think we can raise enough money to build a school, which in turn will bring hope to children for generations.
Please, please help us if you possibly can.
