Story
My mum has helped me write this as I struggle putting my words down, I struggle with most things. I am Ten years old and have Asperger’s syndrome.
My obsession and love in life, apart form Mine craft is animals. I love to watch the RSPCA every day. All my clothes have animals on them, I have lots of pets and everything in my bedroom is nearly to do with animals.
Last year I really struggled at school and after it broke down, my mum home schooled me for about 8 months. During this time my mum helped me learn by relating my work to animals, I started writing animal poems, stories and projects. My pets really help me as when I am sad I can talk to them and spend time with them. I have just started my new school that are also trying to help me learn, my teaching assistant is good at making my work interesting by using animals too.
Last year I did a collection for the cat’s protection league. This year I wanted to try something bigger so with help from my mum and her friend I have organised this fundraiser. I first of all applied to be a fundraiser, then made my fundraisers pack and have wrote some letters to ask for donations for my tombola and brick a brack stall, which I am doing In Highworth Podium, Swindon on the 27th September.
I have also done a game with my neighbours and family to raise some initial funds towards the tombola and have had donations from my neighbours and friends too. I have found this all very hard as writing and talking to others, explaining things and answering questions is very tricky for me.
It may not seem a lot to others but it is a real milestone for me in being able to start doing these things and connecting to others, but I love the animals so much I want to try and do these things to help.
Once I reach my target I am going to visit the cats and dogs home in Bath and will take lots of pictures of the animals and my day and feedback on this page so you know where you money is going.
