Story
In the early hours of 18th February we lost our amazing Mum.
Mum became ill last year with sore legs, she contacted the Dr but carried on as normal because that's what she did.
After a call on 2nd December with a physio Mum was admitted to West Suffolk Hospital with kidney failure. Mum went to Addenbrookes and we eventually found out Mum was suffering from Vasculitis. This was a worry as Aunty Linda had also suffered at the hands of this little known illness.
Mum started treatment and was discharged 23rd December. We were so lucky to have time with her over Christmas and whilst the treatment was hard we were all looking to the future and to Mum being well again.
On February 8th Mum had a fall and was back in hospital, she went to Addenbrookes on Wednesday and by Thursday had deteriorated to a point where the decision was taken to sedate and intubate her. Even then Mum was still in good spirits and told Dr Willcox that if this is what the treatment did she wouldn't be back!
Mum didn't improve and late on Wednesday 17th we were called to come to say goodbye. We are so grateful that we got that chance, to actually give Mum a kiss. We used to kiss her goodbye every time we saw her so the last year has robbed us of that but at least we got that last one.
Vasculitis has had a huge impact on our family and yet we know so little about it. The team at Addenbrookes were amazing and we would like to raise funds in memory of Mum but also Aunty Linda and we hope that it can go a little way to other families being helped in the future.
Sleep tight our Angels xx
