Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having just entered the last year of my fifties, it is time for me to carpe diem and jump out of a plane at 15000ft, to do the highest skydive in the UK. At my age, you would think I would have more sense but I am doing it to raise money for a cause very close to my heart, Wakefield Hospice, and in memory of my wonderful dear friend, Mick.
Mick had been generously volunteering his time to help with
the hospice’s fundraising before, heartbreakingly, he died suddenly in January 2021 at the age of 43. I had planned to persuade Mick to do a skydive with me as he was a daredevil and would have distracted me with his humour. So I will be flying high without him but I’m sure he will be with me in spirit.
My role of Community Fundraiser for Wakefield Hospice has put
me in touch with so many grateful people whose loved ones have benefited from the exceptional care and support of Wakefield Hospice. I have been told how, at the end of life, they were given their dignity back and relieved of pain.
‘End of life deserves as much beauty, care and respect as
the beginning’ and this is what hospices provide.
Wakefield Hospice needs to raise £4.2million each year to
continue to provide specialist palliative care and bereavement support to our community. The last two years have had a
significant impact on our ability to raise these vital funds so I am leaping out of a plane and I’m hoping that you will sponsor me.
Thank you xx
