Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It really means a lot.
I feel so honoured to be doing this marathon with my wonderful friend, Carrie. At 37 years old, Carrie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had breast fed 4 children, never used a microwave, ate healthily, exercised regularly and always stayed away from chemicals and parabens. She led a clean and green life, and then she was hit with the devastating news that she had breast cancer.
Carrie underwent gruelling chemotherapy, and scalp cooling sessions in order to retain her hair. The treatments and care that she received were absolutely fantastic. Breast cancer is particularly cruel, in that treatment robs a woman of so much of what makes her feel feminine. Carrie didn't want to look ill, so the scalp cooling and keeping her hair kept her feeling normal and gave her more of a positive attitude.
Carrie is now proud to say that this is all behind her and she is fighting fit and healthy! We'll both celebrate our birthdays in August. Carrie will be 41. It breaks my heart to think that she never thought she'd see her 40th. Boy did you show them! This walk is to give something back for the wonderful care that she received. I'd be honoured if you could donate a couple of pounds.
