Story
Love4Life has been a part of my life for a long while now, and not always as my job! Flashback to my teen years and I was growing up in a very challenging home environment faced with all the usual pressures of teenagerhood but also a lot more on top that... I kept a brave face for the longest time despite my struggles, made my way to uni and built my life the way I knew it could be, the way I wanted it to be.... That was because Love4Life was there to remind me of my self-worth, that I am more than my appearance or what others think of me, that I am more than school grades and attendance certificates or behaviour points and detentions. Attending the weekly Love4Life group on my estate (which still runs to this day) quite literally changed my direction on life as I was able to spend time with youth workers who listened to me, and saw me for who I was, not what was going on around me. I was able to make friends with other girls who were going through similar struggles, and know I wasn't alone. I learned invaluable information that my school just wasn't covering, such as about relationships and safe sex which meant I was able to challenge things I saw on social media about those topics and make informed choices.
Now, in 2023, I am coordinating the delivery of Love4Life across Leicester City. I am proud of myself, and the phenomenal team I work with, that we can deliver such important work to the young people that need it most. Every young person I get to support is another Alisha who is feeling heard, seen, and thanks to your donations will be making positive choices for their health and relationships for years to come.
