Story
Here is Gabbie’s story, in her own words:
‘After being incorrectly diagnosed with migraines for far too long, in early 2022 I finally found out I have an astrocytoma brain tumour.
I have so many blessings in my life - a wonderful wife, two amazing adult children, a fantastic job a gorgeous home and close, supportive friends… but this diagnosis was crushing.
I simply could not ‘watch and wait’ so I put my life in the hands of a team of neurosurgeons at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, having been told previously that the tumour was inoperable.
Well, they proved otherwise and succeeded in removing 90% of it. I have since had 33 daily sessions of radiotherapy and five months of chemo. I now have MRIs every three months to monitor what is left of the tumour and at this time, I have no choice but to watch and wait.
The chronic underfunding of research into brain tumours is catastrophic. Only 1% of research funds are spent on brain cancer and it kills more people under 40 than any other cancer.
This appalling lack of expenditure needs to be rectified immediately! Please help. For me, my family and for the many thousands of other brain tumour sufferers and their families.
We can’t thank you enough. 🙏❤️’
