MND research is at a point where life-saving treatments are potentially on the horizon. And Sheffield is more than ready to be a frontrunner to find the answers. By fundraising, you'll improve the lives of patients long into the future.

Story

Last year, I ran my first half marathon to raise money for genetic disease research at the University. I have since taken part in the Great North Run and an accidental half marathon in Hillsborough (I was too anxious to stop in front of a big group so kept plodding and did the full 22k).

This year I will be taking on my first full marathon - on Sunday 14th May - to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research at the University of Sheffield.

MND is a terminal condition. It affects the brain and nerves and is nearly always fatal. In the UK alone, 1 in every 300 people in the UK will develop MND in their lifetime.

My role at the University involves working closely with academics to help promote the impact of their research to a lay audience. This includes sharing how our world leading MND researchers are working to find a cure for this debilitating disease. You can read more about their ground-breaking work in an article I wrote here:  https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/future/mnd

Research cannot be carried out without funding. By donating you will help support a breakthrough in MND research sooner and help to improve the lives on MND patients.

Thank you!
