We build relationships across divisions to build a more peaceful future for all

Story

Hello Everyone! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I don't know what I've got myself into! However I may shave some pounds off along the way, which I certainly need to do, so it’s all good!

Why am I doing this!

To raise money for the Gullion Link Youth Empowerment Project, in memory of Ajmol Alom!

Ajmol Alom was a very talented and humble young man! He gave everything he could to God, family, education, friends and community! He has left behind a legacy, and I hope you can find the kindness in your heart to help us support it! He was part of the Gullion Link Exchange project 2012 run by St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, where he was nicknamed by friends the 'The Gentle Giant' because of his calm and caring nature.

The purpose of the Gullion Link Project is to build relationships within and between communities in Northern Ireland and Tower Hamlets by bringing together 15-18 year olds to share ideas and initiate action, enabling them to become agents of reconciliation and peace. Both places are dramatically divided by multiple and complex factors including conflict, culture, politics and religion. By helping young people develop the skills to reach out across these boundaries, the project aims to strengthen both communities and help them learn from each other.

We have recently completed two exchange trips involving 34 young people from both Tower Hamlets and Northern Ireland in April 2014 and August 2014.

Delivered a Football tournament in Memory of Ajmol Alom

A community fun day and BBQ to raise money for Gaza Victims.

We will be hosting further events and conflict resolution workshops for young people in Poplar.

We will be hosting another Exchange trip to Northern Ireland in the near future.

The Gullion Link Project has benefited the lives of over 160 young people both in London and Northern Ireland over the last 5years, let’s keep it going.

So this race is to raise some money for the Gullion Link Project so that we can continue the work we do with young people and hopefully help create a better future for our communities. You can support us in making a small donation, every contribution counts!
