Alicia was born unexpectedly 10 weeks premature on 30/01/2003 she is now 21 she was cared for on the neonatal unit at st marys hospital portsmouth for 7 weeks, during her first few days of life she suffered a haemorrage to her brain which resulted to her being diagnosed with cerebal palsy and hydrochepalus (fluid on the brain)at the age of just 6 months old alicia underwent surgery to insert a vp shunt into her head to take control of the hydrochephalus!! These medical problems have left Alicia needing 24 hour Care. which her parents Lee and Sharon undertake. Alicia has 3 siblings Kayleigh and twins Courtney and Scarlett Despite her disabilities alicia is a very happy princess . Due to her physical disability alicia suffers daily pain in all her limbs which she has medication to help but intense therapies would help ease these discomforts that disturb her sleep on a daily basis. We are currently fundraising as a family to make her dreams a reality to continue private, physio , hydrotherapy, speech and language therapy That isn’t funded by nhs. And to also purchase any medical equipment that she requires, she is currently in need of a new wheelchair, which is motorised but controlled by carer or attendant, this will give Alicia more freedom in life to go more places (this type of chair nhs will not fund as alicIa cannot operate it herself ) .
