Lord Wandsworth College is set to celebrate its first 100 years and as part of the Centenary celebrations we are raising funds for the Lord Wandsworth Foundation.
Alumni and LWC parents are getting ready to trek across the Sahara Desert to help raise vital funds for the Lord Wandsworth Foundation.
In 2003, I was lucky enough to be welcomed into the Lord Wandsworth College community as a Foundationer. My LWC journey for the next 5 years was the making of the person I have become today.
Every year, the Foundation supports children facing tough challenges at home, allowing them to benefit from an education in a vibrant, supportive boarding school environment. My brother and I were both Foundation pupils at LWC. This led to fantastic opportunities during and as a result of our education. We were encouraged to reach our potential in every aspect of life and for that I am grateful.
I have never really undertaken anything like this trek. There was a poor attempt at DofE at school, including a rescue from a bog on Dartmoor, and a couple of wet Welsh walks up Pen y Fan in more recent years. So it will be a challenge but I hope that I will learn from the experience.
My wish too is to give back to the Foundation - thank you for a wonderful education, community and start in life.
