Olney Pancake Race · 4 February 2013
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online!
I am embarking on a series of physical challenges in 2013 (anyone who knows me will know how tough this will be!), starting with Olney Pancake Race on 12th February and Milton Keynes 10k on 10th March. I'll be raising funds for CLIMB: Children Living With Inherited Metabolic Diseases, and as I haven't done any sort of running since year 11 P.E. lessons this is A Very Big Deal.
I discovered CLIMB through my daughter Elfie (see picture) who was taken seriously ill at 8 weeks old. After a few agonising days she was confirmed as having an extremely rare genetic disease called 3 Beta Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenhase Deficiency, the wider form of which is "Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia" or "CAH" for short. Find out more about our experiences with it on my blog.
This is treatable but unfortunately not a curable condition and can prove fatal if not correctly treated. The work that CLIMB carries out on behalf of this and similar conditions is vital, in that one day hopefully finding a cure or at the very least a treatment that does not impact their young lives so much. They also provide invaluable support for families like mine who are often thrown into a bit of a whirlwind with diagnosis of such a disease and they supported us through this transition via their helpful online forums.
I want to work hard this year to raise awareness of Elfie's condition and hopefully raise some much-needed funds for this cause that is really close to our hearts.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Climb will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
A big thanks to my Dad, Paul Judge-Talbot, who is taking part by holding a big dinner party to raise funds in Elfie's honour.
So please sponsor me now!
Your support really is appreciated.
Alice, Will, Elfie and Hux.
