Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Grand Canyon Trek JustGiving page.
In September, this year, my mother and I will be travelling to the Grand Canyon, in the state of Arizona, to take part in a charity trek to raise money for two different well deserving charities.
A bit about my charity...
I have chosen to support Alzheimer's Society, a cause close to my own heart and family, and I'm sure close to many families. Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them.
One in three people over the age of 65 will die with dementia.
We need to raise money to help people live well with dementia today and for research to find a cure for tomorrow.
A bit about the trek itself...
The Grand Canyon has been eroded over billions of years by the Colorado River and is an imposing 277 miles long, 6 miles wide and attains a depth of over 1 mile.
During our trek we will descend 16km into the canyon at Havasu Canyon, to our base camp near Havasu Falls. We will spend another three tough days exploring the incredible landscape, learning from our hosts, the Havasu 'Baaja' Native American Tribe, and finally we will ascend from the canyon with a tough trek back up to the canyon's rim.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. All of the money raised here will go directly to the charity along with Gift Aid on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
No amount is too large or too small.
Many thanks for all of your generosity
