Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The four main urological cancers are kidney, prostate, bladder and testicular cancers. They mainly affect men, although women can suffer from kidney and bladder cancers. Urological cancers are more common than many people realise, and account for 1 in 3 of all cancers in men and 1 in 5 of all cancers in men and women.

When my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July 2009 I wanted to do something for UCAN (Urological cancer charity), and when the opportunity came along to do this sponsored cycle challenge the length of Scotland, I thought this was both a great challenge for cyclists, and good way to raise funds. I enquired about the event through Neil Innes of velodays.com and went to the inaugral meeting in March with some of the other riders who are taking part to discuss what we had let ourselves in for!

There will be around 15-20 or so of us cycling the 433 miles over four days in June from the Mull of Galloway to John O' Groats hence the name MOG-JOG. We'll be camping overnight in Lanark, Pitlochry, Evanton and John O' Groats.

My being in the veteran class  for cycling (+50) and fresh out of winter hibernation this is a huge challenge for myself physically and mentally so I'm in training to rack up more miles in preparation.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My Dad is currently receiving treatment and would like to thank Lesley, Linda and Kevin of the UCAN Care Centre in ward 44 of Aberdeen Royal Infirmay, and Ms Royle his consultant

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks
