Story
Send a young person to sea!
Bruce loved boats and the sea. When we were kids, he took us to visit maritime museums in the uk, we visited the Cutty Sark, the Gypsy Moth IV, HMS Warrior, HMS Victory to name a few. He dreamed of owning boats, building boats and sailing boats. An armchair sailor, his bookshelves were full of yachtsman tales of intrepid ventures on the high seas, Joshua Slocum, Eric & Susan Hiscock, Claire Francis and Lin & Larry Pardy amongst many real life stories. He had a great interest in traditional boatbuilding methods and boatbuilding history.
He inspired us to turn his dreams into reality, to get out onto the water, sail yachts and build craft - even if Richard builds ultra modern, innovative, carbon fibre watercraft!
In his memory, we would like to raise some money to fund a young person, preferably from the Waterside area where Bruce has lived for over 25 years, to take part in a sailing adventure with the Ocean Youth Trust on ‘Prolific’.
The skills and life experience they would gain from an adventure sailing trip include:-
*. Building self confidence
*. Building a C.V.
*. Learning new skills
*. Making new friends
* Adventure
* Trying something new

P.S. for anyone old enough to remember, he sailed on Duet, helped on a Francis Drake refit and shivered on a Hunter Duet in the Hamble!
