Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may or may not know sadly at the end of last year my younger brother Andrew was diagnosed with lung cancer and I am raising money to support the Weston Park Teenage Cancer Unit in Sheffield where he is being treated. The unit is especially for teenagers as they have needs different to those of children and adults which the unit is tailored to. Andrew is fortunate enough to be able to be treated there so he can escape the zoo patterned curtains and kiddie strength squash in the Children's. The unit is going to be invaluable to us in the future and I want to be able to contribute to it to help improve the time which Andrew and all the other young people have to spend there.
For my first fundraiser I have entered the Stratford Triathlon on the 19th of May 2010. Most of the people I have told about this have been fairly scathing at first as admittedly my body is far from a temple and I am not a natural athlete (I'm fairly sure ungainly is a term which had been used in the past). Comments recieved so far have included "Can you even cycle uphill?" (cheers Dad!) and "I'd pay to see you in lycra" My reponses to these are fortunately it's a flat cycle and indeed you will be paying to see me in lycra - whether you like it or not.
The 19th of May has the potential to be the best yet most challenging day of my life so far. Slowly it is starting to hit me quite how hard the triathlon is going to be but with some training and the continuing support of the people around me hopefully it will be an awesome day. I'll be providing the entertainment, bright red and in a onsie trisuit and you'll be providing the pennies for a worthwhile cause which is very close to my heart.
Once again thanks again for visiting my page and supporting me through this tough time, both the diagnosis and the triathlon.
Please dig deep and donate what you can afford now
