On Wednesday 5th October I will be modeling in the Breast Cancer Care fashion show which will be my first time ever on a professional catwalk!
All of the models who take part in this special event, like me, have experienced a diagnosis of breast cancer. The show is an amazing occasion of fashion and inspiration proving that you can still look and feel great after a diagnosis of breast cancer.
Last year's show was a fantastic event raising over £380,000 and this money made a vital difference to Breast Cancer Care. The reality is that there are more than half a million people in the UK today who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and every year another 50,000 hear the devastating news that they have the disease. Thanks to the generosity of people like you supporting The Show, Breast Cancer Care is here to for every one of them, providing expert information and skilled emotional practical support when it's needed most.
Thank you for sponsoring me and showing your support. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 ½ years ago when I was 24. I am now 28 and still battling it, I applied to be in the show before I was told I was going back on chemotherapy for the third time as my secondary tumors in my lungs and on my sternum where taking hold again. It has been a massive goal to aim for October as stepping onto the catwalk in front of everyone, including my family and friends who have supported me every step of the way, will be a chance to say I’m still here, living with it, living life to the full and still feel feminine.
Being involved in The Show has also been an opportunity to meet other people who have been through a similar experience. I am lucky enough to be involved in co running a Norfolk breast cancer support group called ‘younger women’s group’ but it is always great to meet more inspirational women and men. Thank you Breast Cancer Care for bringing us together in such an unforgettable way.
