Story
2nd June 2022 marked one full year that our wonderful Chris, Husband, Dad, Papi gained his wings and a huge void was in his place in our lives. They say time is a healer but it most certainly isn’t, over time you just become familiar with the feeling of the huge loss that actually wont ever go away. We miss Chris every single day. Every new memory made should be made with Chris not without him, he should be here watching his children and grandchildren grow up, and making plans for his retirement with Carol.
Chris never gave up, he fought strong to the very end and Team Sharpie are not giving up either. Rikki, Candice, Jarrad, Michael, Alex and Jake are joined this year by Carol in their challenge to cycle from London to Brighton in everlasting memory of Chris to raise desperately needed funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.
We understand that with the rises in the cost of living, money really is tight this year however we appreciate anything you can give, no matter how big or small. Your donation helps us get that step closer to finding a cure but the statistics on this really speak for themselves:
Brain Cancer kills more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer, yet funding the research is one of the lowest. The devastating results of this means that the survival rates for brain tumours are exceptionally low.
Research into brain tumours must not be left behind – the nation needs to Level Up and invest at least £35 million a year if we are to find a cure for brain tumours in the next 20 years.
Too many people are being faced with the devastating diagnosis each year – every two hours someone is diagnosed with a brain tumour in England. 16,000 people each year are being diagnosed with a brain tumour just in England and only 12% of brain tumour patients survive beyond 5 years of their diagnosis.
What the money we raise could fund:
£100 could pay for a test to understand the genetic changes linked to brain tumour development, to help identify personalised treatments.
£250 could cover the cost of giving 10 children and their families the immediate support and information they need after the devastation of a diagnosis.
£500 could cover two days of research for one of our leading brain tumour researchers to better understand brain tumours and provide more targeted treatments
.Anything you can give we will be truly grateful for, every little really does help.We are doing this for you Chris, Dad, Papi …
How long will we love you? As long as the stars are above you.
