On August 29th I will be starting a solo Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle ride on behalf of the SunflowerJam which helps to raise money for complimentary and integrated treatments for cancer.

The SunflowerJam was conceived by Jackie Paice who is the wife of Ian Paice, drummer and one of the original and current members of Deep Purple. As a lifelong Deep Purple fan it was hard not to hear a lot about the SunflowerJam over the last few years which has grown in popularity so much that the venue has been the Royal Albert Hall for the last few years.

I was privileged enough to (almost) have front row seats at the Jon Lord tribute show this April which was amazing. It celebrated the life and musical career of Jon Lord, another of the original members of Deep Purple who sadly passed away in July 2012 having suffered from pancreatic cancer.

That was the catalyst that made me decide to do this challenge as I felt that Jon’s passing was the end of an era, and I wanted to do something for a good cause and so the SunflowerJam seemed the obvious charity to raise money for.

So I’m getting on my bike from End to End and will be trying to complete it in around 11-13 days. So please give what you can for a brilliant charity and it will be much appreciated!
