We will do whatever it takes to help you live life as fully as you can
Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Dad (aged 58) was diagnosed in Feb 2010 with stage 4 bowel cancer, with non-operable metastases throughout the liver. Given such circumstances, the normal emotions of shock, fear, anger, worry, etc....ensued. Dad underwent a Colostomy and is scheduled to commence treatment at the end of March - our Family are only just beginning to face up to the hard facts surrounding Colorectal Cancer and the future, whatever that holds for us. The Macmillan Nurse has already provided answers to sensitive questions, offered valuable medical advice, hints and tips, facilitated various items of therapeutic equipment (helping ease some of my Dad's symptoms) and assisted in applications for financial support - input that may not have been so readily available if this Charitable organisation had not existed. Raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support is my way of showing my appreciation for what I'm sure will prove to be a valuable support mechanism for my Family and for many more like us in the future.
So what am I doing to earn your pennies? Largely commuting by bicycle between Inverurie and Aberdeen (supplemented by weekend rides) as much as possible for the next year (starting 2nd April), so what's new I hear my friends ask...? Well I've set a goal of 12,000km for the year which I haven't achieved since the days before I had hair (a while now) and which may be compensated for (on occassion) by a rather natty green Macmillan hair piece (that should keep me off the train...).
Donations are obviously welcome, however, I will also publish my mileage regularly (visit http://greenflash74.blogspot.com), so pennies (or fractions thereof) may be offered per km ridden as a kind of cruel carrot. I will maintain a sponsorship form - feel free to post a message here, providing Name, Address, and pledge per kilometre.
Look out for the Green Flash and give me a toot...
