Story

This is a big one!

On 14th July 2023 I will be joining a team of 30 like-minded individuals from the built environment to take on The National 3 Peaks Challenge in just 24 hours to fundraise for Mind in Somerset. Climbing the three highest mountains in the UK in less than a day is no mean feat and will require all your support.

When I was asked by Harvey in December if I was interesting in joining the challenge I didn't hesitate to say yes! Having ran 2 half marathons for charity in 2022 and previously fundraised for Mind, it was a no brainer to go even bigger this year. To a greater or lesser degree we all will be affected by mental health issues in our lives be it ourselves or those close us, and it is my strong belief that discussing our metal wellbeing as part of our daily lives should be the norm, and all sense of shame and weakness eradicated. Talking saves lives and this is why I'm focusing of fundraising as much as possible for Mind so they can do just that!

The challenge came about when Harvey and Chris and  met up on site in October 2022 and decided they both wanted to fundraise for Mental Health. Both work in the construction industry for BAM Construction and Setsquare Recruitment and over the past 10 years have previously supported charities and fundraised. The decision was made to fundraise for Mind In Somerset.

The idea: A team of 30 mental health warriors would tackle in July 2023 The National 3 Peaks Challenge. Over the course of 24 hours, they will trek around 26 miles and ascend to a total height of almost 3,000m - Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m). This is a serious and tough challenge which requires a good level of fitness, as well as plenty of grit and determination. Ultimately, however, the team will be rewarded with spectacular views and a huge sense of achievement.

The focus is sub 24 hours, but more importantly to smash our combined fundraising target of £30k. With this team of fundraising hero's and your support I have no doubt we can go above and beyond.
