Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
Our Dad Alex Osmond died in early February after a long illness. He died after a long life, which included a long retirement. He has always said that he had a good life.
We are collecting money for students in hardship at Newcastle University, especially those from poor backgrounds like him.
Alex was always grateful to his parents for letting him stay on at school beyond 14.
He studied medicine at Durham and Newcastle after spending 6+ months in hospital after crashing his motorbike. He worked as a GP in Stoke, Scunthorpe and Boroughbridge after national service.
He met our Mum working in a hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He was very lucky that she agreed to marry him. He missed her greatly following her death shortly before their 50th wedding anniversary.
He was saddened by the deaths of so many doctors and others during the COVID 19 pandemic, especially as so many were so much younger than him.
It is weird that he is no longer around for a natter, a grumble and a laugh.
Ruth, Jill, Isla and Huw miss him greatly.
