Story
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you who don't know me I'm a fourth year vet student at Liverpool University so despite home being in Hampshire, the Chester marathon is just down the road during term time. I have never run in a race such as this and it should prove to be highly entertaining for anyone who watches! I have set myself the target of finishing in 2 hours and have twisted the arm of my trusty friend, Sally, to run with me.
I'm raising money for the Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund. It is a fantastic charity which helps those injured in horse-related accidents. The MDIRF not only helps towards professional medical costs but also gives legal advice, moral support to both beneficiaries and their families and practical help such as transport costs to and from appointments for relatives and also funds for wheelchairs etc..
I have seen first hand how devastating an injury can be for that person and their family, particularly if horses are their profession. This charity is unique in helping people whether they ride for fun, compete at any level or look after horses, but don't ride. A huge number of us fall into one of those categories and have friends in others and for this reason I am going to tempt you, through the amusement of me trying to run 13 miles in 2 hours, to donate to this brilliant charity.
If the thought of me red faced and cursing isn't enough for you, please take a moment to visit the MDIRF website at www.mdirf.co.uk and anything you can spare would be hugely appreciated! Sadly, accidents happen no matter how careful an individual is and knowing the MDIRF is there to help in these circumstances should you need them gives us peace of mind.
Any donations you can give to the MDIRF will be greatly appreciated and the more that is raised the less able I am to chicken out!
